University of Virginia Darden School of Business Launches Private Equity Initiative
The University of Virginia Darden School of Business has announced the launch of the new Private Equity Initiative, aimed at providing students with a comprehensive education and hands-on experience in the private equity industry. The initiative offers a wide range of classes, workshops, competitions, and opportunities to engage with industry leaders.
Led by Executive Director Rodney Sullivan and Professor Elena Loutskina, the initiative is hosted by the Richard A. Mayo Center for Asset Management at Darden. It builds on the school’s existing offerings in investment management and aims to prepare students for successful careers in private capital markets.
Darden Dean Scott Beardsley highlighted the unique opportunities the initiative provides for students to learn from professionals in the private equity industry, both inside and outside the classroom. The initiative also aims to create a strong network of alumni and practitioners to support students in their career goals.
Former Darden alumna Elizabeth K. Weymouth, founder of Grafine Partners, praised the new program for its focus on developing talent and faculty research in the private markets industry. She emphasized Darden’s tradition of nurturing future private equity leaders and expressed excitement about the initiative’s potential to connect students with industry innovators.
Overall, the Private Equity Initiative at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business aims to provide students with the resources and support they need to excel in the fast-growing private equity industry. With a focus on practical skills, industry knowledge, and networking opportunities, the initiative is set to make a significant impact on the future of private equity education.
