Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) Super PAC Raises $418,000 from Private Equity Executives and Investment Industry Donors
Pro-Israel super PACs are making waves in Democratic primaries this year, with Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) super PAC bringing in a hefty $418,000 in a recent FEC filing. Most of this funding came from a small group of private equity executives and investment industry donors.
DMFI, closely associated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), has been actively supporting candidates they believe are aligned with their views on Israel’s war in Gaza. The super PAC raised over $400,000 from mid-February to the end of March, leaving them with nearly $3 million in cash on hand.
One of the largest donations during this period came from Ann Pava of Connecticut, who contributed $131,000. Pava, the president of Micah Philanthropies, has ties to AIPAC through her husband Jeremy Pava, the executive chairman of real estate investment firm Aspen Square Management.
Other notable donors to DMFI include private equity firm executives such as David Randolph Peeler, Norm Alpert, and Scott M. Sperling, as well as prominent figures like Jeffrey Ullman and Lyor Cohen.
DMFI has already spent over $200,000 supporting Democratic candidates for the U.S. House in this election cycle. In March, the super PAC intervened in an Illinois House Democratic primary to back Rep. Bill Foster, who was facing criticism for his stance on Gaza from challenger Qasim Rashid.
Recently, DMFI endorsed challengers to two House progressives who have been vocal in their criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza: Westchester County Executive George Latimer in New York and St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell in Missouri.
The influence of pro-Israel super PACs in Democratic primaries is becoming increasingly apparent, as they continue to pour significant funding into supporting candidates aligned with their views on Israel.
